Get your dream job by taking the RESNET training

Before we know about RESNET training, let us first understand what RESNET is. RESNET also expanded as Residential Energy Services Network was founded by Energy Rated Homes of America and the National Association of State Energy Officials in April 1995. The RESNET standards are recognized by the U.S. mortgage industry and the Federal government for verification of building energy performance for programs such as, Energy Star program and U.S. Department of Energy’s Building America Program.

To be a member of RESNET, one needs to register for it. After the registration, the person needs to take up the RESNET training and then clear the exam which has 50 multiple choice questions which needs to be answered in 2 hours. But the persons who are already having the BPI Building Analyst or BPI Building Envelope certification are exempted to take up the training course and pass the examination. The examination needs to be taken before 90 days from the date of registration, failing which, the person’s membership with RESNET may be terminated.

For those taking the test, the RESNET training course is mandatory. The training should be taken through an Approved Contractor Education and Qualification (CEQ) provider. There are many CEQ providers but the course structure is almost the same with all the providers. The training topics include principles of energy efficiency, combustion safety, cost effective energy efficient practices, the house as an air related system, and work scope procedures and prioritization.
